Before 10am — Beat the traffic and park. Highways 18 and 330 back up on summer and snow weekends, and the Village lot fills by late morning. Get up the hill early and park once.
Morning — Get on the water or on a trail. Do the Lake Arrowhead Queen boat tour (50 minutes, the one public way onto the lake) if it's your first visit, or knock out a short hike like Heart Rock before it heats up. Want easy and shady? Heaps Peak Arboretum is a one-mile loop.
Midday — The Village. Walk the waterfront, grab lunch, and let the kids run. See where to eat — the waterfront charges for the view, so the best food-per-dollar is often a mile away in Blue Jay.
Afternoon — Swim or scenic drive. Since you can't swim in Lake Arrowhead itself, drive 15 minutes to Lake Gregory for the waterslides and beach, or keep it mellow with an ice cream and a lakeside sit.
Head down before dark if you're not staying — the mountain roads are slower and less fun at night.
